Yoga For Beginners
We love welcoming beginners to The Freyja Project! Please review our top 10 tips for making the most out of your first classes at our studio.
-
Visit thefreyjaproject.com. Check out our current class schedule and read class descriptions.
-
Sign up for classes or workshops. Freyja Foundations and classes marked “all levels” are appropriate for beginners.
-
Arrive 10-15 minutes early. Check in with your teacher and let him or her know you are new to the practice, and whether you have any injuries or medical conditions.
-
Practice on an empty stomach. We recommend that you not eat 2-3 hours prior to class. Drink plenty of water prior to class, and if you need some quick energy, have some juice or fruit.
-
Dress appropriately. Wear comfortable workout clothing. Layers help to adjust for temperature changes during and after class.
-
Remove your shoes before entering the studio. Leave your shoes in a cubby outside or in the changing room.
-
Turn off your cell phone. Keep the outside world at bay during your class, which is a gift to yourself and a kind gesture to your fellow students.
-
Practice often. For maximum benefit, practice 4-6 times per week. 2-3 sessions per week will show improvement for most students within three months.
-
Be patient. Progress can take time, so be compassionate with yourself. With patience and discipline you can reach your goals
-
Reward yourself! A little extra love can keep you inspired. Whether a therapeutic spa treatment from among our amazing bodywork services or a special treat from the Freyja Boutique, treat yourself to something you deserve for your hard work.
