Restorative Yoga Teacher Training: Level One with Kristine Whittle

Restorative Yoga is a profoundly nourishing and rejuvenating self care practice of conscious relaxation in supported yoga postures. It creates opportunity for healing on many levels: physical, neurological, energetic and psychological.

This 15-hour Restorative Yoga Teacher Training is designed to introduce the basic concepts and methodologies of teaching Restorative Yoga. This training is suited for new and experienced teachers as well as bodyworkers, health professionals and physical/occupational therapists. Dedicated Restorative Yoga students who wish to deepen their restorative practice are also welcome.

  • Experience simple relaxation techniques that you and your students can use every day
  • Build Restorative techniques into teaching and healing practices
  • Practice teaching Restorative Yoga
  • Develop a Restorative program for students and clients
  • Learn hands-on therapeutic assists
  • Facilitate deeper healing with precise verbal and breath cues

This training applies towards 15 Yoga Alliance continuing education hours.

What to bring: Mat, notebook, pen, eye pillow, camera. Warm clothing layers and socks recommended.

*Prerequisite for this course: Kristine Whittle’s Level One Restorative Yoga Teacher Training

Building upon the foundations developed in the Level One training weekend, this 15-hour training is designed to prepare you to teach an expanded Restorative Yoga curriculum as well as further develop your ability to integrate restorative asana into active yoga classes, individual programs for students or clients, bodywork sessions, and your own home practice.

The curriculum will include lecture and discussion on restorative yoga science and philosophy, restorative yoga and the subtle (pranic) body, advanced hands-on assists, and prop variations for different issues. We will practice and breakdown the more challenging restorative poses, which require comprehensive attention to detail as well as explore practice sequences designed to balance the flow of prana through the meridians and chakras. Breakout sessions in smaller groups will allow you to integrate your new knowledge and experiences into your teaching.

  • Jump into a deeper exploration of basic and advanced restorative yoga asana
  • Examine the application of restorative yoga for specific therapeutic concerns through the lens of Ayurveda and Five Element Theory of Traditional Chinese Medicine
  • Discover how the practice of restorative yoga affects the subtle (energy) body and leads to greater health and vitality
  • Learn and practice advanced hands-on assists
  • Confidently teach a full Restorative class
  • Receive individual feedback and coaching

This training applies towards 15 Yoga Alliance continuing education hours. That's a total of 30 Yoga Alliance CE hours when combined with the Level One training.

What to bring: Mat, notebook, pen, colored pencils, eye pillow, camera. Warm clothing layers and socks recommended.

The Freyja Project’s 200-Hour Teacher Training

This training will give you the expertise to optimize happiness in yourself and others, whether you want to teach in a studio or within the communities you serve.

Our yoga teacher training program is a catalyst for change. Whether you're feeling stuck and unsure of your career, or want to augment your life with the time-tested science of yoga, our program will help you grow into the teacher you are called to be.

Within over 180 training contact hours, you'll study and learn how to implement the teachings of yoga into modern life. The training includes expert instruction in the areas of yoga philosophy; alignment, sequencing and adjustments; anatomy; Ayurveda; energy systems; mindfulness practices; as well as building a yoga business. You'll graduate prepared to teach an aligned vinyasa flow class.

Above all, our yoga teacher training is a transformative experience. What kind of transformations can you expect? More ease, wholeness and self-acceptance through an experience of your whole being. Join us this fall to study the art of teaching yoga in a community that encourages you to become your best.

In addition to our two co-lead trainers, you'll be assigned a mentor who will give you personalized coaching and feedback. Guest lecturers in various subject matters will join throughout the training, giving you multiple perspectives from which to hone your own yoga teaching.
